Virgin Media’s 4 for £40 plan gives you the opportunity to enjoy the ultimate bundle to cover all your media needs – you’ll get broadband, TV, home phone, and a mobile phone. It’s best suited to those who’d like an everyday mid-range broadband and telephone service, and a decent selection of digital TV channels.
The broadband plan allows you unlimited monthly downloads at connection speeds of up to 2Mb. There’s a free modem included and you’ll also benefit from free PCGuard, which includes firewall, anti-virus and a pop-up blocker. If you ever find yourself in need of assistance with your broadband, Virgin are on hand both online and on the telephone.
You get over 90 digital TV channels with the 4 for £40 bundle, as it includes Virgin Media’s Size L TV plan. Virgin’s set top box gives you access to some of the most popular channels, including LIVINGtv, Discovery, and Eurosport. There’s a large OnDemand library of shows and movies installed in your set top box, as well as CatchUp TV, which gives you free access to Virgin’s pick of the best programmes from the last 7 days of TV.
The landline element of the plan gets you free weekend calls to other home phones, and the regular call charges aren’t too bad either. As if that’s not enough to suit your everyday needs, you also get a mobile phone. You can opt for the SIM-only plan if you’re happy with the mobile phone you already own, which means you get 300 anytime minutes and 300 texts a month. If you’d like a free mobile phone included in your package (and there are plenty to choose from), you’ll receive 100 texts and 100 anytime minutes a month.
The entire package costs a very reasonable monthly total of £40, based on a 12-month contract. That’s £11 for your line rental and a £29 charge for the 4 services. There is also a one off set up fee of £30 for an engineer to come and fit the V+ set top box in order to access your digital TV channels.
