If your exchange (the building where your broadband wires end up at) has been ‘unbundled by Tiscali’ and also offers their new digital TV service, their tripleplay bundle is one of the most competitive around. It offers broadband, phone and digital TV all for under £20 a month.


Company history

Tiscali is one of the leading broadband, talk and TV providers in the UK and Europe. It acquired Pipex in the summer of 2007 and is firmly established as the fourth largest ISP in the UK. As befits a big player, it has one of the largest IP networks in the world. Tiscali is a popular choice with customers. It supplies over three million homes and businesses with super fast, reliable Internet and telephone services.

Tiscali is a pretty forward thinking company and has been working hard to ‘unbundle’ packages, which basically means that the broadband provider will install their own equipment in your local exchange. This allows customers living in its local loop customer areas (LLUs) can now get free line rental too. Free line rental is set to be the next big thing as ISPs save by installing their own technology in BTs exchanges.

On 4th January 2008, Tiscali announced its plans to rebrand its ToucanMobile business to launch cellular services by the end of the year. Under the rebranding, Tiscali will launch ‘Quadplay’ bundles in the UK, a service currently only provided by Virgin Media.

Respected within the industry, Tiscali won awards at the Internet Service Providers Association 2007 including ‘Best Portal’ and was runner up in the ‘Best Consumer Host’ and ‘Best Consumer ISP’. They also have an award winning website.
