Our view
TalkTalk broadband is from Carphone Warehouse and if you want TalkTalk broadband - which was the first 'free' broadband - you do, unsurprisingly, have to subscribe to the provider's phone line and call services but, in fairness, TalkTalk broadband packages will provide you with extremely competitive calls within the UK and abroad.
TalkTalk broadband bundles are best suited to people who are high-end home phone users and for whom the TalkTalk broadband part of the package is not the highest concern. TalkTalk broadband is perfect if your main priority is a really cheap home phone package with TalkTalk broadband as an attractive extra.
Potential TalkTalk broadband customers should also be aware that while TalkTalk broadband bundles are very competitive, the provider continues to experience problems maintaining its TalkTalk broadband customer base and connecting new users to its TalkTalk broadband and bundled services.
Company history
TalkTalk is part of The Carphone Warehouse, which was established in 1989 and now has over 1700 stores across the continent.
The Carphone Warehouse launched TalkTalk in 2003 and it is estimated that TalkTalk, with its TalkTalk broadband service, now has over 3 million customers in the UK and rivals BT as the UK's fastest growing Broadband ISP with its TalkTalk broadband offering.
TalkTalk Broadband initially offered a 'free TalkTalk broadband' service based on an 18-month contract and launch fee but even though this bold move eventually fell through, TalkTalk broadband still provides some of the best available deals available with additional rewards for TalkTalk mobile and landline customers.
