Company History
PlusNet was established in 1997. Today it works alongside three communications companies – Force 9, Free-online and Metronet, an amalgamation which gives PlusNet a great deal of technological know-how as a broadband provider.
Like many ISPs in the market today, PlusNet made a name for itself with dial-up internet service provision, but has now moved smoothly into the broadband market. Its customer base is close to 250,000 and growing. PlusNet’s more recent links with BT Broadband, should take its status even higher as it brings customers the latest BT broadband technology.
Its contribution to broadband provision has seen PlusNet scoop many awards. One of the most telling indicators of its success in the broadband sector, was a recent survey by YouGov, which saw 92 per cent of PlusNet customers happy with their service – making PlusNet the ISP with the highest overall customer satisfaction. In another Broadband Customer Satisfaction Survey by uSwitch 2008, PlusNet was the overall winner.
At the recent internet industry awards (ISPAs) in 2008, PlusNet won Best Consumer ISP. An ISPA Spokesperson commenting on PlusNet said: “The judges agreed that PlusNet put their customers first with transparent usage allowances. The judges also felt that PlusNet’s one month contracts were very beneficial to consumers.”
