In a nutshell, Orange broadband provides high-speed broadband backed up by a decent service. Orange broadband also represents excellent value, with their broadband packages costing less if bought with any Orange pay-monthly mobile phone tariff. This, coupled with fast speeds, makes Orange broadband a solid choice.

Orange broadband have worked hard to better their offering and the new Orange broadband service has been improved further with Orange broadband now offering three main Orange broadband packages: Orange broadband Home Starter, Select and Max.

Orange Broadband

All Orange broadband packages come with a free wireless router, allowing you to set up your own wireless network. It is also worth noting that all Orange broadband packages cost £10 less if bought with an Orange pay monthly mobile deal.

Orange Mobile Broadband

Orange mobile broadband is great if you want to access broadband on the go – and it works at home too. Orange mobile broadband can be used in place of a fixed line broadband connection. Outdoors, you’ll need Orange network coverage if you want to use Orange mobile broadband.

Orange mobile broadband costs £15 a month and for that you get:

• Up to 1.8Mbps connection speed
  
• 3GB monthly usage allowance
  
• Free Orange mobile broadband dongle

Set up is easy; just plug the dongle into your laptop (or Mac), follow the onscreen instructions and Orange mobile broadband is yours.

Orange Mobile Broadband + Laptop

There is also an Orange mobile broadband package that comes bundled with a laptop. This Orange mobile broadband package costs £25 a month and includes all the features of standard Orange mobile broadband, as well as 100 free texts from your laptop (Asus Eee PC 900).

Company history

Before Orange broadband became a core service, the provider - which was formed in 1994 - built its reputation on its mobile phone network and has now grown into one of the UK's largest and most highly regarded mobile phone companies.

The provider is owned by telecommunications giant France Telecom and is becoming increasingly well known for its Orange broadband products. Orange mobile broadband was one of the first mobile broadband services made available in the UK and Orange wireless broadband is already gaining an excellent reputation through its outstanding service.

Orange broadband has come under criticism in the past with some Orange broadband customers complaining of issues with the quality of the connection offered by Orange broadband and also problems with the Orange broadband customer service. Orange broadband fared very badly in a Which? magazine poll that said Orange broadband had serious problems.

However, Orange broadband have vowed to improve the quality of the Orange broadband service, focussing on providing more secure Orange broadband connections to their existing customers rather than trying to increase the Orange broadband userbase or launch new Orange broadband products like broadband TV.
