Virgin Media gives ADSL broadband a boost
Virgin Media, the provider behind the super fast Mother of all Broadband fibre optic broadband range, has launched a new, faster service for its ADSL broadband customers.
The speed-enhanced service will be available to new and existing customers who subscribe to the company’s ADSL services, now known as Virgin Media National, and will see those who sign up double their broadband speed from 8Mb to (up to) 16Mb.
In an extra boost to customers, Virgin Media is offering a three-month free trial of the new service, which it says is “perfect for anyone wanting to give their broadband an instant pick-me-up”. Once the free trial period ends, users will have the option to keep their faster broadband at a cost of £5 per month on top of their existing package.
Mark Schweitzer, chief commercial officer at Virgin Media, said “We want everyone to be able to try fast broadband and experience the benefits firsthand, which is why we’ve created this double-speed broadband boost. With fast broadband enabling customers to surf the web and download films, TV and music in no time at all, the Internet is now better than ever, so we’re confident this new enhancement will be a hit.”
The launch is good news for Virgin Media customers who are unable to subscribe to the provider’s fibre optic service because they live in an area not covered by the UK cable network. Virgin Media National is available across the UK, including areas which are unable to receive Virgin Media's fibre optic broadband.
