Surf Broadband on your back
Imagine reclining in a deck chair, surfing broadband while the sun shines. And not simply by balancing your laptop on your knee.
This could be the future of broadband if PC World has anything to do with it. 'Experts' at the computer giant have developed a controversial concept for broadband and gadget lovers, with a new breed of sun lounger.
The 'tech chair' will see the traditional deck-chair morph into one loaded with numerous
sockets, wireless connectors, long-range Wi-Fi, sockets, speakers, broadband laptop holder, an LCD screen, solar panels and USB ports - not to mention a host of other techy add-ons. So there'll be lots of fun things to keep you entertained if getting a sun tan is, quite frankly, rather tedious.
The practicality behind the invention is however, debatable, given that laptops vary considerably in their size and depth. This would make it hard for any standard design to be created. The camera dock is also tricky, for the same practical reasons.
One might also predict the outcome following a sudden British-summer downpour, or a melting ice cream, no doubt putting a swift end to any broadband surfing you're doing at the time.
Wi-Fi is perhaps more feasible within a sun lounger, but then the technology is up against stiff competition from mobile broadband services and may be phased out in the future anyway.
Perhaps those PC World experts aren't so expert after all.
