Free laptop with Orange mobile broadband
It seems the latest and most popular strategy in the battle for mobile broadband customers is for companies to offer free laptops with their packages in order to entice potential customers.
Last week we reported that mobile giant T-Mobile had joined the growing number of providers offering a free laptop with their mobile broadband package. Now, another mobile operator-turned-broadband supplier,
Orange, has become the latest company to tempt customers with a laptop plus mobile broadband deal.
The Orange mobile broadband package, called Internet Everywhere, costs £25 a month. Customers who sign up to a two-year deal will get the laptop - and a mobile broadband USB modem to go with it - thrown in for no extra cost. Those who sign up to the deal will get a 3GB monthly download allowance and the ability to send up to 100 texts from their machine.
The model of laptop being offered is the Asus Eee PC 900. It comes with 16GB of storage, an 8.9 inch display and an Intel Celeron processor. The accompanying 'dongle' (mobile broadband modem) will allow for speeds of up 7.2Mb.
The popular compact laptop is viewed as an ideal enticement to the world of mobile broadband, and will be particularly suited to those customers who do not like the bulkier, more unwieldy laptops on the market. The new mobile broadband deal is available now from Orange stores and online.
