Comedian Solves BT's Broadband Problems with a Dongle
Problems with your broadband connection are frustrating enough but when you have to phone a broadband helpline to sort it out things can get much worse. Comedian Dave Gorman has been finding this out first hand recently and venting his frustrations about the recent problems he's been having with his
BT broadband connection on his blog, including the inventive solution he came up with to solve the problem.
Having been without a broadband connection for three days, and on yet another seemingly endless call to the broadband helpdesk, Gorman decided to take the matter into his own hands. He asked BT if they would provide him with a dongle to allow him mobile broadband access while his landline-based broadband was being fixed. Sadly, BT were unwilling to take on his suggestion to provide temporary broadband cover but they were certainly backed into a corner, especially as they didn't seem to be coming up with an alternative solution to his broadband problems.. Gorman relays the conversation on his blog thus:
Do you want to help me solve the problem (with my broadband)?
Yes.
You know those USB modems that provide mobile broadband access?
Yes.
One of those would solve the problem wouldn't it?
Um...
Wouldn't it?
...well...
It would wouldn't it?
Yes.
So, can you, BT, provide me with one?
No.
