Broadband Users now Seeking Price over Quality
Decent customer service and good reliability are no longer at the top of the list for people looking to swap broadband providers, according to a company that specialises in offering impartial advice on all things digital. Simplifydigital say that their customers interested in switching broadband used to be mainly concerned with quality but are now more focussed on price and getting the best broadband deals. The top two reasons for wanting to swap broadband provider between April and June 2008 were price, at number one, and 'deal bundling' at number two, which refers to customers looking for an all inclusive broadband, phone and digital TV package. Reliability, which used to be at number one, came in at number three.
The company cite the current credit crunch as the main reason why people are looking to get the cheapest broadband deals, in an attempt to minimise monthly outgoings. Also listed in the top five reasons to switch broadband provider were customer service, at number four, with many users being frustrated at being unable to get through to broadband call centres or annoyed at the lack of action when they did get through. At number five on the list are people looking to upgrade from a dial up internet connection to broadband, with customers now realising that many broadband packages are actually cheaper than using dial up.
