Be slashes broadband prices by 50p
Following the government’s reduction of VAT from 17.5% to 15%, Be Broadband has reduced a number of its packages by 50p – a discount over and above the national 2.5 % VAT reduction.
The Be value package now costs £13.50, while the Be unlimited bundle is priced at £17.50 and the Be Pro package drops to £21.50. The broadband provider is also reducing its static IP address bundles for the Be Pro service by 50p to £9.50 for a pack of 7 and £19.50 for a pack of eight.
Last week, two broadband providers,
BT and Plusnet, lead the way with an announcement of a price reduction precisely in line with the VAT cut. These discounts take effect from 1st December, 2008.
Be Broadband, however, has been a touch more generous to its customers – albeit a small gesture. "We had the option of following the Government’s 2.5 percent reduction in VAT, but we decided give a little extra to our members and round the price drop to 50p. We chose to give a better deal to our customers, which is more in line with Be's way of thinking," said Felix Geyr, Managing Director of Be Broadband.
The price slash by Be Broadband follows Michael Phillips’, product director of Broadband Choices.co.uk, approval of the reductions by BT and Plusnet last week, and his call for other broadband providers to follow suit.
