Our View
Be make bold statements about the speed of their broadband that seem to be holding up over time. They run only three packages, which keeps things nice and simple – Be Value, Be Unlimited and Be Pro, with Be Pro offering speeds of up to 24 meg, adding fuel to their ‘we’re the fastest’ fire. The three packages are easy to understand and, on first glance, pretty self explanatory. If you don’t use the net that much, you’re probably after Be Value. If you use it quite a lot for normal day to day things, have a look at Be Unlimited. If you’re into games, videos and super fast streaming, or you need a decent connection for work, Be Pro is probably the one for you. Be claim that their first customer had an average connection speed of 18.5 Meg and, as we mentioned, that their Be Pro package can offer broadband at up to 24 Meg thanks to their unique broadband cabling, called ADSL2+. Before you get too excited about all this talk of speed we would add a note of caution – until someone lays down some decent fibre optics, the speed of any broadband connection is dependent on how far you live from the local exchange. To be fair, Be are very open about this on their site and with prices starting from £14 a month for Be Value, all packages coming with 24 hour support and the possibility of a 24 Meg connection, there’s certainly worse broadband options out there than Be. Company History Be are relatively new to the broadband game having launched independently in 2004. They were bought out by O2 in 2006. Their mission statement is to bring you, the customer, the best broadband and the best products at the best price. They claim to provide the fastest broadband around thanks to their unique ASDL2+ cables and are looking to improve their service and product all the time. |
